Delos & Diles — The Sacred Island & Locals’ Secret Paradise
Two sister islands in the heart of the Cyclades: Delos, sacred birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, and Diles (Rinia), the wild turquoise escape locals call the closest place to the sun. One is history frozen in time, the other is raw nature charged with energy.

Myth — Where Light Was Born
In Greek mythology, Leto became pregnant by Zeus and was hunted by Hera’s jealousy. Forbidden to give birth on any mainland, she drifted across the Aegean until she found a tiny floating islet — “a-dilos”, invisible and unclaimed.
Here, she grasped a palm tree and gave birth to Apollo, god of light, instantly illuminating the island. Later, Artemis was born as well. All surrounding islands formed a circle around Delos to honor the new god — the origin story of the Cyclades’ name.
Small Delos — Sacred Island & Open-Air Museum
Delos is a preserved archaeological gem. Temples, markets, the Theatre of Delos, colonnades, houses with mosaic floors, and the famous Terrace of the Lions create the feeling of stepping into an entire ancient city left untouched.
Archaeologists work alongside the ruins, ensuring the island remains a true open-air museum. No cars, no modern towns — just stone, sea, and history.
Best for: History buffs, mythology enthusiasts, photographers seeking timeless ruins.
Big Delos — “Diles” / Rinia
Across from sacred Delos lies Diles (Rinia), a raw and wild island that locals treasure. Anchor your boat, dive into turquoise waters, explore quiet beaches, and soak in the charged energy.
Diles is less about tourist hubs and more about being small in the vast Aegean — a place to breathe, swim, and feel the sun.
Tips: Bring snorkeling gear, anchor carefully, and embrace minimal planning. The less structured, the better.
Kasari, Generalis & Agia Triada — Farmhouses, Chapels & Pathways
On Diles, small harbors like Kasari and Generalis welcome boats. Farmhouses and five chapels dot the island, with many clustered near Agia Triada in front of a sandy beach.
Hellenistic ruins and the sanctuary of Heracles remain scattered across the island. A dry-stone-walled path from Kasari to Agia Triada winds through the landscape, offering a walk where the scenery tells the story.
Vibe: Ancient echoes, untouched nature, quiet reflection.
